Are you printing high quality photographs?

If you are, indeed, printing high quality photographs then you will need to replace your printer cartridges with manufacturer recommended cartridges.

The reason is simple. When you adjust photos on your monitor to get just the effect you want, you'll want to see exactly that effect on your hardcopy photo. To do that, the transformation between what you see on your monitor to what is printed on your photo paper must be precisely matched.

Purchasing replacement ink to refill your cartridge will probably not produce the quality you expect. That's because the replacement ink will likely not contain exactly the same quality and density of pigments as the manufacturer recommended cartridge. This means, simply, your photos will not measure up to the quality you expect.

If, however, you are printing general items, even a few photos, you can well take advantage of replacement ink to refill your existing cartridges.
